On cultural wednesday, 29th October 2025, the Department of Political Science, New Model College, Mangkolemba arranged a very colourful and educative event, “Political Awareness Challenge and Quiz Master Competition”, in the college campus. The twin activities were targeted to create political and constitutional awareness among students as well as active and interactive study of politics.The day opened with Political Awareness Challenge in which the learners of the Department of Political Science disseminated throughout the campus asking short and thought-provoking political and constitutional questions to students in other departments. Those who responded correctly were given tokens of appreciation, which created the element of fun and motivation towards the learning process. The action was able to make the campus a vibrant place of knowledge exchange and civic education, where it is highlighted that politics can be educative as well as fun.
The Master Quiz Competition on the theme of, “Know Your Constitution, Know Your Rights”, was held after the awareness activity. The competition saw enthusiastic manner and presented the level of the students knowledge about the Indian Constitution. Mr. Mulsingh of 5th Semester was the winner and Mr. Hitoka Murru of 1st semester was the runner-up.The significance of this occasion is merited by the fact that it marked the inaugural departmental activity of the Political Science Department in New Model College which was established in 2023. Faculty members and students of all the departments unanimously supported the programme and many of them attended as an audience and volunteered to facilitate the smooth running of the programme.The Political Awareness Challenge and Quiz Master Competition are the milestones in the history of the college. Not only was it indicative of the department policy to advocate civic awareness and democratic principles, but it also portrayed how interactive learning could help politically education to be significant, lively, and pertinent among the current youths.
