New Model College, Mangkolemba, Mokokchung celebrated its 1st Parting Social and Farewell Programme with a sense of pride and feeling to say goodbye to the 2023-2026 outgoing batch. This was a historic event, since the batch was the first to be outgoing in the history of the institution, and therefore, the event itself was both momentous and utterly memorable.The programme united the members of the faculty, juniors, and well-wishers to mark the achievements, memories and the growth of the outgoing students. It was an emotional and warm feeling when the students got to look back at how they had learned, made friendships and changed their personal lives at the institution.On behalf of the outgoing batch, Mr. Imtiwapang, the General Secretary of the Students Council, gave an emotion-filled speech. He admitted to the trials and tribulations encountered, but said the whole experience was grand and rewarding. In his speech he motivated the juniors to be attentive, to listen to advice and to work diligently and persevere.
Dr. Benjongkumba, the Principal, too, shared words of wisdom and encouragement. He stressed the need to consider the way the students carry themselves during the next stage of their lives and that they are the image of the college anywhere they are. He emphasized the various avenues that await them- to take up higher education, to enter into business, to take up competitive exams- and sent them off with all the best wishes of success in whatever they do. He so kindly invited them to come back to the college any time as proud members of its alumni and asked them to get ready to their final semester examinations and bring glory to the college.The programme incorporated speeches, reflections, and interactive activities that enabled the juniors and seniors to bond with each other. The juniors showed their appreciation and well-wishes by sending kind words, and the students who are going to join them provided their experience and gave hope to the people who will become their successors. The gifting of tokens of appreciation was another way through which the relationship between the students and the institution was symbolized.The event was characterized by laughter, emotions and heart-felt moments and was indeed a most memorable one. As the old batch enters a new life, the farewell is a reminder that they are going to leave the campus but the values and memories they bring along will never leave them.It was quite a happy conclusion, one that signifies not only a farewell, but the start of new dreams, new opportunities and new adventures in the future.”
