NMC OBSERVED INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 22nd June, 2026

The New Model College, Mangkolemba observed International Yoga Day on 22nd June 2026 with enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The programme was organised by the Games and Sports Secretary, NMC Mangkolemba, to promote awareness on the importance of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The programme was chaired by Thechano Kithan, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, who formally opened the session and introduced International Yoga Day to the gathering. In her address, she highlighted the global significance of yoga as a holistic practice that promotes harmony between body and mind, and encourages a healthy lifestyle among students.

A special talk on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging” was delivered by Wonchithung Ezung, LDA, NMC Mangkolemba. The speaker elaborated on how regular yoga practice can help in maintaining physical flexibility, mental alertness, and emotional balance, particularly as individuals grow older. The talk was informative and well-received by the participants.

This was followed by a yoga demonstration and practice session conducted by Hongsa, 5th Semester student, NMC Mangkolemba. The session included simple yoga postures and breathing exercises, encouraging students to actively participate and experience the benefits of yoga firsthand.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dejuve Yhoghu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, organisers, and participants for making the programme a success.

The celebration of International Yoga Day 2026 at New Model College, Mangkolemba was a meaningful and enriching experience that helped in spreading awareness about the importance of yoga in leading a balanced and healthy life.
