Mr Imtijungshi and Miss Mendila, crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2025.
The Cultural, Literary and Fine Arts Committee of New Model College, Mangkolemba, organised its 3rd Freshers’ Day on 26th June 2025 at the college’s New Library Hall. The event was graced by Shri Moakumzuk Tzudir, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mangkolemba, as the special guest.
The formal session commenced with a cultural performance by students of the 3rd and 5th semesters. Miss Imlisenla from BA 3rd Semester served as the chairperson for the programme. Dr Neken Jamir, Vice Principal, invoked divine blessings through a prayer, after which Dr Benjongkumba, Principal, extended a warm welcome to the freshers and attendees.
A special presentation by the 3rd Semester students followed, showcasing a fusion of traditional and contemporary fashion. The session was further enriched by the insightful and encouraging address delivered by the special guest. Miss Mendila of the 1st Semester gave a speech on behalf of the freshers, and Miss Purmila of the 5th Semester concluded the formal session with a heartfelt vote of thanks, along with words of encouragement for the newcomers.
The informal session in the afternoon began with ice-breaking activities conducted by the seniors. Mr Imtiwapang (5th Semester) and Mr Viki (3rd Semester) hosted the session. The judges for the Mr and Miss Fresher competition were Ms Khesheli Aye (Assistant Professor, Sociology), Ms Longchanenla (Assistant Professor, Education), and Ms Pelhouneinuo Kiewhuo (Assistant Professor, English).
The contest began with an introductory round featuring 12 freshers, each adorned in their traditional attire, impressing both the audience and the judges. This was followed by a light-hearted comedy act performed by the 3rd Semester boys, a drama on classroom bullying, and a dance performance by the 5th Semester girls.
The event culminated in two rounds of questioning for the participants. Mr Imtijungshi and Miss Mendila, both from the English Department, captivated the judges and audience alike, ultimately being crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2025.
