The History of the First Students Council of New Model College, Mangkolemba (2025 -2026)

A historic and proud event unfolded on 24th October 2025 at New Model College, Mangkolemba with the successful formation of the first ever Students Council Body. It is a turning point in the history of the college in its quest to ensure that students develop a culture of leadership, responsibility, and participatory governance.To represent the different sections of the student community, ten members were democratically elected to serve the tenure of 20252026. The newly elected occupants of the office are:

1. Mr. Imtiwapang – General Secretary.

2. Mr. Imkongyanger- Vice President.

3. Miss Marlemla – Cultural, Literary and Fine Arts Secretary.

4. Mr. Tekatemjen – Secretary of the Cultural, Literary and Fine Arts Assistant.

5. Miss Purmila Holal – Women Coordinator.

6. Miss Opailebla – Information Secretary.

7. Mr. Chingpong – Sports Secretary

8. Miss Imlisenla Longchar – Assistant Sports Secretary

9. Mr. Lepzukok – Member

10. Miss Lipoksenla – Member

The council, consisting of ten enthusiastic and ecstatic members, reflects the actual youth leadership spirit. Every member comes with different experiences and talents, as well as ideas which are diverse and dynamic in the college community.The Students’ Council is focused on becoming a channel between the students and the administration, which promotes communication and collaboration and positive involvement. It will actively engage in planning of the academic, cultural, literary, and sports events besides ensuring inclusiveness and the well-being of the students.The very act of the creation of this council is not only an administrative achievement, but a sense of pride which demonstrates the increasing democratic awareness and leadership potential of the students.It is this historical foundation which sees New Model College, Mangkolemba poised to produce a new breed of student leaders to continue the vision and motto of the college; which is,”To nurture possibilities towards excellence”.
