With the objective of raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, the Red Ribbon Club in
collaboration with the Sports Committee, NMC organized a Cross Country Race on the
occasion of National Sports Day, 29th August 2026. Under the theme “Celebrating Sports,
Celebrating Fitness; Raising HIV/AIDS Awareness with Every Stride”, the race which was
open to the age group between 16-27 years, witnessed the participation of 41 runners. In the
Male Category, Mr. Viki emerged as the winner flanked by Mr. Hongsa Yemlong and Mr.
Lanurenba Longchari as the first and second runners-up respectively. Ms. Longrinaro secured
the first position in the Female Category, while Ms. Asemsangla and Ms. Lanusenla were
declared the first and second runners-up respectively. The winners were awarded with
certificates, medals and cash prizes. The Jirremen Youth Society Mangkolemba sponsored the
third prizes for both the male and female categories. The event was conducted successfully
achieving its aims of promoting and encouraging fitness and creating awareness on HIV/AIDS
among the youth and the community in general.
